Being a good parent takes a lot of work, and can be a struggle. But kids are works in progress, and using their bad behavior as anything other than a learning experience is counterproductive. Especially when the kid acts more mature at eight than the parent does at 38. 

What a parent should absolutely never do is shame their child online for the world to see, like some kind of high school cyberbully. We all know older people can struggle with their social media literacy, but even the boomerst boomer should know that airing out a kid's dirty laundry on their "Status" is loser behavior.
