The tree of life is vast and ever-growing, and most of us probably assume we know everything there is to know about the animal kingdom. 

Thanks to the internet, we know about deep sea creatures, the cassowary, honey badger, and mantis shrimp. Animals can’t get much weirder and fringe than those right? Wrong.

Animals I Didn’t Know Existed is a great subreddit dedicated to showing you the lesser-known parts of the animal kingdom. These are the animals that we don’t see that often because they’re rare, difficult to photograph, or just plain weird to look at. 

There are some crazy-looking turtles peeking out of their shells, lemurs that look like stuffed animals, and the world of bats is genuinely nightmarish and cool.
